Samsung S9 Review Unlocked

At present, the smartphone market is starting to stagnate. New features called innovation by smartphone manufacturers no longer have a big effect on how to use a smartphone. The company seems to have difficulty repairing its newest product.Samsung is one of them. Samsung S9 Review Unlocked

The Galaxy S8 which was launched last year was very well received. This year, they are still launching the Galaxy S9. However, in terms of design, there are not many things they change from their new premium smartphone. This 1. problem is not only experienced by Samsung.

Its heavy competitor, Apple, also experienced a similar problem. With the iPhone X being an exception, the iPhone design since 2014 hasn’t changed much. Even so, that does not mean there is no increase in performance or additional features that the company does.

Here’s a review of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Unlocked.

  1. Design

The design of the Galaxy S8 that Samsung launched last year received praise. Therefore, it is not surprising if this year, Samsung does not change the design of its premium smartphone. At first glance, the Galaxy S9 does not look different from its predecessor.

One change to the Galaxy S9 is the location of the fingerprint sensor. Learning from last year’s mistakes, Samsung is now placing a fingerprint sensor on the bottom of the camera. This makes it easier to reach with the index finger. Because it is located in the middle, the sensor is easily reached using either the left hand or right hand.

Overall, the Galaxy S9 still feels comfortable even though it has a large enough screen size, which is 5.8 inches. This is thanks to the thin bezel design with a ratio of 18.5: 9. With a combination of metal and glass, the Galaxy S9 looks chic and luxurious. Unfortunately, the back of this cellphone is easily dirty by fingerprints. Fortunately, the Galaxy S9 already has an IP68, allowing it to be put in water.

The Galaxy S9 still has a power button on the right side, a volume button on the left side and a Bixby button below the volume button. The good news, Samsung is still installing audio ports on this one premium smartphone.

2. Software & Interface

For the Galaxy S9, Samsung has installed the latest operating system from Google, namely Oreo. Like most other Android smartphones, Samsung also adjusts the operating system installed on the Galaxy S9.

One interesting thing about this phone is the ability to adjust the screen resolution. Indeed, Samsung uses a high-resolution OLED screen for the Galaxy S9. However, if you want to save battery life, you can adjust the screen resolution. Not only that, but Samsung has also equipped the Galaxy S9 with a battery saver feature.

The multitasking or split-screen feature has become a default since Android 7.0 Nougat. However, Samsung does not just install these features on premium phones. Samsung added a feature called App Pair.

Basically, through App Pair, you can pair two applications that you use frequently. That way, you can immediately launch both of them with just one tap. This feature is also available on other Samsung-made premium phones, such as the Galaxy Note 8.

Some things that exist in the Galaxy S9 and you don’t find on the iPhone are the ability to make duplicate messaging applications and game modes. While using the Galaxy S9, this game mode feature is very helpful because I often accidentally press the Home button.

With the special mode to play this game, I can “lock” the Home button so that it won’t accidentally squeeze while playing. Besides that, I can also make no notifications appear when playing.

There were not many changes to Bixby. Samsung is still installing a special button to call its artificial virtual assistant at the bottom of the Volume button. Bixby can answer your questions and change phone settings (such as turning off or turning on Bluetooth).

3. Performance, Battery & Features

The Galaxy S9 uses the Exynos 9810 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Indeed, when compared to the Plus variant, the RAM of the Galaxy S9 is smaller. However, when using this smartphone, I did not encounter any problems which meant a difference in RAM. Galaxy S9 can still run applications quickly.

With an AMOLED display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440, the Galaxy S9 provides an excellent video viewing experience. This phone is also powerful enough to be used for playing games. Games like Asphalt 8: Airborne can certainly be played smoothly with this mobile phone. Samsung also complements the Galaxy S9 with Game Tools.

Through the benchmark table below, you can see that the Galaxy S9 has better performance than the Galaxy Note 8, although it is still inferior to the Nokia 8. However, in terms of performance when used in everyday life, I do not feel any striking difference between Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 8, except battery problems.

4. Camera

One other thing that distinguishes the Galaxy S9 and S8 is the camera. The Galaxy S9 camera has two aperture, namely f / 2.4 and f / 1.5. If you use auto mode, you will not feel the presence of this two aperture too much.

However, when you use professional mode, you can set it manually, the aperture you want to use. With two aperture, Samsung wants the Galaxy S9 to take ideal pictures, both when used to take photos during the day or at night.

Samsung Galaxy S9 has a very good performance, according to the expensive price that Samsung provides. Not only does the Galaxy S9 provide satisfying performance, but it is also filled with various features. However, extra features like AR Emoji might not attract everyone’s attention.

Besides performance, the Galaxy S9 camera also produces good photos, even though it only has one camera. The Galaxy S9 is able to take photos with the Bokeh effect, take slow-motion videos and take photos in dark places well, thanks to it’s two aperture support,

In terms of design, Samsung has also learned from their mistakes and placed a fingerprint sensor in the middle. Indeed, the Galaxy S9 doesn’t look much different from the Galaxy S8. However, that is not a problem considering the design of the Galaxy S8 has also received praise.
